Corrective osteotomy of the distal radius: dorsal or volar approach, closing or opening wedge.

چکیده
The radiological outcomes of 31 corrective osteotomies for malunion of the distal radius were assessed. The procedure re-established normal anatomy in the majority of cases. There was no significant difference in outcome between the dorsal and the palmar approach, but more secondary procedures for hardware removal were necessary with the dorsal approach.

متن کاملCorrection of post-traumatic wrist deformity in adults by osteotomy, bone-grafting, and internal fixation.
A corrective osteotomy for post-traumatic malalignment of the distal end of the radius was performed in twenty patients who were followed for an average of 3.6 years. The indications for correction were based on age, degree of deformity, limitation of function, pain, and appearance of the wrist. The procedure included an opening-wedge metaphyseal osteotomy combined with insertion of a graft and...
متن کاملThree-dimensional postoperative accuracy of extra-articular forearm osteotomies using CT-scan based patient-specific surgical guides
BACKGROUND Computer assisted corrective osteotomy of the diaphyseal forearm and the distal radius based on computer simulation and patient-specific guides has been described as a promising technique for accurate reconstruction of forearm deformities. Thereby, the intraoperative use of patient-specific drill and cutting guides facilitate the transfer of the preoperative plan to the surgery. Howe...
متن کاملVolar Locking Plate Breakage after Nonunion of a Distal Radius Osteotomy
We report a 38-year-old male with a nonunion followed by plate breakage after volar plating of a distal radius osteotomy. Volar locking plates have added a new approach to the treatment of distal radius malunions, due to a lower morbidity of the surgical approach and the strength of the final construction, allowing early mobilization and return to function. Conclusion. Plate breakage is an unco...
